Hi, I visited Sihanoukville in 1999. It was a village. The Independence Hotel on the hill was still a wreck, courtesy of the Khmer Rouge. Your video portrays an utterly unrecognizable city. There were no high-rises when I was there. Now, it seems it has been through a boom and a bust. A sad looking place. I was a Kampot recently - a much livelier and more interesting town!

You should include how the chinese development devastated this city for the local cambodians. And how they brought crime and murder and devastation to their economy.

Is it hard to get accustomed to Asian food 24/7? In North America Asian food is an occasional alternative to go out for supper, but in Cambodia it's the other way around.😉

Your description of the heat in Cambodia , including Siem Reap, just reinforces my inability to consider Cambodia. I love your videos and wish the climate were different in Cambodia, or at least that I wish I were 20-30 years younger!

Can you guys give us a comparison of Siem Reap with Phnom Penh, and why you chose where you are? Also, the biggest obstacle to coming to Cambodia for many of us in North America is the heat and having to confine ourselves to the air conditioning all the time. Can you talk about that and about adjusting to the local food?

Disappointed that I missed your live. Hope to catch the next one. So many questions as I plan a trip to see a lot of Cambodia (multiple cities). Would you consider writing a tourist guide? Transportation options, best currency exchange, hotel reviews, attractions to see, phone apps, etc.. Just a few ideas. I would buy that.

If you want to learn Khmer, I’m making videos for my nieces and nephews to learn Khmer. I post it on RUclips if your interested. I love learning language and I teach myself multiple languages through songs. It’s for folks who have no exposure to the Khmer language. One of the audience is very young so I cater it to the weakest link. However, with or without the weakest link that is normally how I teach myself languages. Simple short song and stories with ALOT of repetition. I discovered your channel because I will be vacationing there this upcoming month. I am also thinking of relocating there. Not sure when, but planning for it. Thanks for your video, I’m looking forward to my trip.

Seeing non- Khmer folks brave enough to live in a land they don't know the language and able to survive it is very inspiring and hopeful for me. I'm going to just trust Jesus and not focus too much on my lack of finance when I relocate. Until than, this year will be the first time I step foot in my home country which I only heard and seen on tv. 😅 I will be vacationing there this year to scout the land. 😁 My parents being survivors of Pol Pot doesnt encourage me to live there, but I'm going to trust Jesus. I may be financially poor, but rich in the gospel. That is how I encourage myself to leave my career and explore the unknown. 😅 I hope w/ Jesus help, I can open a small business- a childhood dream of mine to support myself as my job skill is not transferable across the sea and does not offer remote job.

Sorry I missed it! I've been to SR in 2015 & 2017. Planning on going to SR in Jan & getting a 1 year visa & getting a place to stay. I'm 69 & healthy. I worked in Singapore 2005-2007. Anyway, I hope to be able to land a decent place around 250. Thanks for all you share!

Thank you for the update! I am now back in the UK for over a month now and in hospital for my shin bone to be fixed. I aim to be back to Phnom Penh around the first few months of 2025.

When we moved into our new house in Kampong Spue the power was connected, but as yet there we no meters installed. This went on for 4 months. We had 4 aircon units running day and night. Eventually the power company caught on and put in meters, but as you do, I kept up the cool lifestyle I'd got used to. Shock and horror when the monthly account come in. For one month we had used 1.4 million real (U.S.$342.00) Oh well it was good while it lasted. Now I just walk around with ice cubes in my undies !

I like how this video just now recommended me😂 and I'll say theft are very low, lower than Thailand and Vietnam. And despite all of this that doesn't stop the Thais from saying that😂
